Also note that you are able to stream music via Bluetooth Audio
Thanks for the info! Where can I find more about the Bluetooth streaming option? That sounds very interesting!

Despite being somewhat separate, I didn't catch that the audio system was in any way less integrated. It still displays on the MFD presumably via AVC LAN, and I didn't find any DIN sized trays to install something after market. You still have the same amp on the floor, so I'd suggest that you're no better off w/ this version than before for upgrading.

No idea lol. It didn't occur to me to take a photo of the screen nor ask more info (but i'm sure it's just as simple as pairing the laptop/PDA with the car. It has a reserved name called Car MultiMedia)

I was in the rear seat of the blue car during a short segment of Doc's testing... sound was incredible.
It even rendered the Star Trek sounds nicely

The CD load feature invoked an "Ohh, SHINY!" response from me.

This is an important point. The new model features "normal" knobs and buttons to make adjustment easier and more familiar for those coming from a "normal" car, but I believe those are just additional inputs into the integrated audio system. In every other respect the audio system appears to be completely entangled into the MFD and AVC LAN.

This seems to be a wide-spread trend for mid-grade and higher vehicles.

It makes sense from a design and engineering point of view. The only place where it is a problem is for after market upgrades.

Oftentimes what makes sense from an engineering point of view doesn't make sense from an end user's point of view. There's always a trade-off somewhere.
