Default Radio antenna jack???

Gen II...basic radio/CD player. I have seen photos, drawings, etc. of the radio unit. Is there a good old fashioned MOTOROLA antenna jack. I have a little unit that injects the XM signal into the antenna line on a specific frequency. Not too concerned about on-screen control, as since XM's inception I have been happy with the 10 presets I have programmed. And yes, I don't want to add another unit to the account. This one is pre-paid thru 3-2011!

That's the direct connect thing right, little black box that goes into the back of the radio and has a spot for the antenna of the car to go into it, it then plugs into where the antenna went in the back of the radio and it has a wire that goes to the dock for the sirius/xm right?

I used that in my 2006 and it worked great. It'll just plug right in, you just need small hands or take your time to get behind the radio and unplug/plug everything in...

Yes, that's the one!!! I am an original XM subscriber and that little device has lived in two vehicles....and awaiting install in my new 2009 PRIUS once I go thru the photo description of removing the radio...or as I did in the 2002 ESCAPE, feeling around behind the radio until I found the antenna cable, removing, inserting the lead from the box, and antenna into it. 12VDC to the box, cable to the XM and all is right with the world.

THANKS

The radio doesn't need to come out at all, at least I didn't remove it. I took the glove box off (bottom) that's easy, then the vent to the right of the radio came off and then remove a large screw that held a big wiring harness to the right of the radio, left of the glovebox. Move it out of the way and your hand can slip in there, albeit tightly, and you can remove the antenna, plug in the direct connect and put the antenna into the direct connect. Button it all up. Then I used the dc outlet for power and ran everything under the dash, under the drivers footwell and then up to the drivers side vent near the door and mounted the dock on that. i even ran the wires into the vent and had them come out the front of the vent right into the dock, it all looked very clean. I also mounted the magnetic antenna on the back next to the regular stock antenna and ran all that wiring down the left hand side of the car and tucked it under the door sills etc. Took about 3 hours but was well worth it.

You should have no problems at all, just have fun doing it! lol
