Friends: 0 | That's my plan for my next Prius, hopefully 2011 or so. Not spending for the NAV package because TomTom has great graphics, updatable maps, Bluetooth, MP3. Plus it does windows, acts as an air freshener and subdues backseat drivers. If Roger Federer had one he probably would have won the final against DelPotro. |

Friends: 2 | Looking at the "coverage" zones that the Map Info (in the 2010 Prius, Nav DVD ver 8.1), I see MAJOR areas (most of Nevada) NOT included. Most GPS systems (I have approx. 10 brands/models: Garmin, Mio, TomTom, etc.) have included "all" streets in the USA ("full" coverage) for at least several years. My dealer's Service Dept. told me yesterday that the update DVD was delayed until the end of October (at least), and would cost $299. At that overly-high price, it better have full coverage and at least 12 million POI. Even then, it is more expensive than most non-integrated GPS systems. The version 8.1 appears to be "lacking" coverage, if one believes their own "coverage" maps. Cwn anybody living in those "uncovered" areas to give us some feedback? Thanks. |

Friends: 1 | Thanks for the 8.1 link. It says an update was done for San Diego County. But I tried to find an address in Carlsbad, CA. The housing development is 2 years old and was not in the data base. So I wonder how current any of these updates will be. Certainly not worth $200 if you are trying to find a newer address. |
