Default Head Unit Removal Help

I'm at a complete loss here. I have searched and searched for this all over and the closest I have came is having to pay 5 bucks for manual which isn't going to happen. haha What I am doing here is trying to install a pair of subwoofers and an amp into my friend's 05 Prius. We need to get to the back of the head unit so we can wire tap the rear speakers for the amplifier (which has speaker level inputs). The only problem, is that I have no idea how to get back there and I have no idea where to start taking the thing apart. I don't have very much knowledge regarding the Prius so I figured I would come here and ask first. I don't know much about the car besides it's an 05 with leather interior and everything. I have a pic of the inside if that help in determining the specific model:

So does anyone have any links to any guides or anything on how to get the head unit out? I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alex

Try this PDF, a backup copy of one that used to live elsewhere.

That's a great pdf to have - thanks! CRAZY amount of disassembly to get to that stereo however. Wow.

Might be easier to tap those speaker wires from the B-pillar where they go into the rear door. Pulling the trim panels along the running boards and up the B-pillar is pretty easy. Attached file from Crutchfield might be handy too.

It is actually not bad once you have done it a couple times. Since most of the panels just pop off it is a breeze. I can have my stereo out in a couple of minutes easy.

Now, is that removing the stock stereo in a few minutes, or your ultra cool Kenwood!?!?

Either, but the stock one is easier.

Wow, This PDF is awesome. Many, many thanks to Chris Dragon (author) where ever you are! The instructions are amazingly easy to follow. I installed an iPod adapter I bought from crutchfield this weekend, and this PDF made it an enjoyable task.
