Default 'Snap' when I first touched the break

With my 2005 little baby - at 7000 miles - I have had my first "issue". Before I run off to the dealer, I'd thought I'd run to the experts here first. So a little back ground ….

At just under 5000, I was about to go on a long road trip and thought it'd be best to get my oil changed and what not at the local dealer. With that done, we headed out on our trip.

Then, at around 6750 miles I experienced the following:
This really concerned me. I am not an expert in cars, but the first two didn't sound good. However, we were in the middle of no where. This continued over a night. But then, after 100 miles or so of driving, the first two went away. That’s right. No more beeps or pops or snaps. The maintenance light, however, remained on. (Which I have since reset).

So, my specific questions to sum the story
1)Yes, the maintainance light just needs to be reset. With car off press and hold the ODO button. Then power up while still holding it...watch the odometer, when it returns to 'normal' you can release the ODO button.

2)The word is brake--and yes, it sounds like a problem. If it's stopped and all else is normal I'd say it's your call. Maybe call your service dept and run it by them, but it sounds unlikely they'd find anything at this point.

This may seem obvious, but check to make sure your lug nuts are tight. You should always re-torque your lug nuts 1000 miles after installing a tire. Maybe the dealer rotated your tires?[/font:941360b28a]

My spelling is a product of public schools (and apathy)

The dealer did rotate my tires. The sound was more electrical then mechanical. It only occurred when I first tapped the brake - before the brakes started to engage (well, that is what it felt like).

Thanks for the input. It sounds like this isn't too common. Perhaps I'll call the service dept.

Are you sure you are simply not hearing the brake light relay "snapping" on when you first start to apply the brakes? If there is no background noise the relay can be quite noticeable.

I doubt it was the relay as it was very noticeable when it was happening, and seem to becoming from the front right (is that where the relay is?).

If it was the relay, would it explain the sudden stop of the sound?

By beeps of the horn, you mean the horn that you press to get people out of your way? If so, that is not good.

Checked the wiring diagram, in one instance, it shows no computer control of the horn, in another, the body ECU does for the alarm and supposedly for the remote door lock without SKS. I know the remote door lock does not operate the horn, with or without SKS (as many have attruted that there's no auditory answer-back without SKS), so who knows.
