I saw a Prius today parked in the lot of my gym with protectors on the sides ( you know against those nasty folks who insist on hitting your car when they open their doors)....does anyone know where to get them (especially in the oakland/berkeley area) and how much they cost...thanks

You can purchase the side moulding painted to match your car from Metro Toyota Cleveland. www.metrotoyotapartsnow.com. There are also from time to time group buys through this website. I have them and they are great and very easy to install yourself if it is warm enough outside or if you have a heated garage to work in. They cost $110.00 if you buy them directly through the website about $89.00 neither price includes shipping.

I recommend Eddie Bell at www.toyotapartsnow.com without reservation. I ordered color-matched mouldings (matched perfectly) which arrived in a long tube complete with installation instructions and a tube of "adhesive activator." When the Dallas weather warmed up a bit (>70º) the body shop associated with my dealer installed them in less than 30 minutes at no charge.

Eddie is with a Toyota Dealer in Ohio. At the time, I ordered them in a "Group Buy" for about $95.00 including shipping. Last time I saw a price, it was about $120.00 plus shipping. Here's a photo:

Hi. Just picked up my new '05 #4 yesterday. Included were the invisible bra (front and back) as well as the black ding bars (side protectors). I like the contrast of the black against the Millennium Silver.

What are "invisible bras"?? Do you mean those clear vinyl films? If so, how well do they seem to work so far?

They seem like a good idea, though I already have some dinks on my 04 and it might be too late to put something like that on...unless I shell out some $ to fix the dinks.

Yes. It is a clear protective layer that covers the parts of the car most prone to flying road particles front of the hood, front bumper area, wraps a bit to the side, the front of the mirrors, the flat part below the trunk (where people like to set things), and the rear bumper.

After 2 days... no problems... still looks brand new
