2005 with only 4000 miles. After having the rear seatbacks folded flat for a few days I went to put them in the up position but they will not latch into the lock position. I have fiddled with the release buttons but to no avail. Nothing is stuck behind the seatbacks preventing them from fully engaging. Anyone else experience this?

Is the seatbelt stuck in the latch? Sometimes mine won't catch right away but that is usually because I didn't use enough force--it needs very little.

Yeah, that's what happened with me. I don't bring them down all that much, but the first time I did (to install seat covers), the belts got in the way. I didn't notice that they were.

Just today I was helping my sister move and realized that I was actaully holding the button down with my palm as I was trying latch the seat. I felt silly when I realized it.

I have to slam mine pretty hard to get them to latch. The cushion fits nice and tight, so quite a bit of force is required.

If I break a latch, big deal.....that's why I have a warranty.

The passenger side seat latches every easily. The driver side seat has always required quite bit of force for the button to pop up and the red to be covered by the button. The red is a unique indicator as to the lock status of the seats.

Anyway, I don't think you can hurt anything if it requires a bit more force to get the seats to latch. I don't think that seat back cushion fit is all that percise compared to other parts of the car.
