just curious if anyone bought a prepaid service plan from their dealer. What were the terms and did it also include an extension of the 3/36 warranty?

Didn't buy it, but the deal offered on this site is almost certainly a better one. Take a look at the "PriusChat Offers" on the left hand side of the page. Or, if you're lazy, click here. The thread is about the Extended Warranty, but there's also the pre-paid service discussed lower down in the original post for $670 (4yr/55K). It doesn't say anything particuar about NEEDING the extended warranty to get that, so I'd assume it's not necessary, but check before you buy.

Also didn't buy it. Thinking I'll maybe pick it up when my mileage gets close to being out of regular warranty.

You can get the prepaid maintenance for $590 from Crown Toyota in Kansas. Go to this website and scroll down until you see Crown Toyota. http://www.vfaq.net/docs/ExtendedWarranty.html

I bought the maintenance plan through Troy, just as I did the Extended Warranty. Why did I buy it? I just wanted not to have to be concerned about budgeting for the routine stuff and this pays for it in one shot. I'm not sure that there is any real benefit to buying the maintenance plan if you are prepared to do some of the work yourself. However, the 5k mile service was priced at ~$120 by the dealer I use so if I project that and higher rates for the more extensive services over the life of the car it is a good deal. I had no problem using the plan at a dealer that is convienent to a train station so I can do a drop-off in the morning on the way to work and pick the car up at night. (This may not be true everywhere so you should nose around to fine out if your selected dealer will accept the coupons. They should since its a Toyota plan.)

I bought it from the dealer. They came within $50 of the posted online price (they knew about Prius Chat already and the deal mentioned, just took me mentioning it). I felt better buying it direct from my dealer since they came that close (big difference from what they first offered!).

I just had my first service done. They show the cost of the service on the receipt, so I'm going to track it. However, I'm not sure if it's the real cost or some "fake" cost since they know I paid with the pre-pay. It stated $30 for the first service (oil, filter, tire rotation pretty much it). Not too much more than it would have been at Jiffy Lube.

I have 11 services out of the deal, two majors (which aren't really major with this car) I think. So at those prices I think I'll come close to breaking even. Only real benefit is if labor rates go up.

I was suprised that the Gilroy Toyota Service department is open 7 days a week.

Bad thing, compared to Jiffy Lube, is that I couldn't wait for the car, had to drop it off. They were too busy.
