I'd like to see a functional electrical block diagram for the Prius. I would like to better understand the details of the electrical power system, i.e. charging and loads for both batteries, motor/generator relationships, inverters/transformers/rectifiers, etc.

Has a diagram/diagrams of this sort ever been published outside of the high-priced maintenance manuals?

The complete electrical diagram is many pages, and then there's the
"connector list" and "location of parts" documents which are about
the same number of pages over again that lets you actually figure
out *where* anything is in the car.
.
You can buy all this in printed form from Toyota's media distribution
center [see pointer in the back of your manual, or search here], or
download it all from Techinfo for a $10 day-long subscription [you'll
probably need a microsoft/IE box handy to make that work at all].
.
Were you interested in more info on any particular subsystem? Many
of us here at PC know a reasonable amount about these things already.

Nah. I really am just looking for an overview. No specific wiring info. Just a guide to the design concept underlying the operation of the electrical power system. i.e. a flow chart for charge/discharge, motor/generator, traction battery/12v battery interactions.

What you need is Prius New Car Features. Try here $10 per day: http://techinfo.toyota.com/. You will have to spend some time organizing it. You can buy the book though it is pricey.
