Friends: 14 | [attachmentid=3978]I am starting a new topic on this to post all the data I have harvested thus far on Prius engine oil analyses. If anyone wants to add more data from their car that would be great. The data are sorted from left to right by decreasing copper content. This is the only 'wear metal' that varies much in Prius. Silicon does also, but that story is a bit more complicated. Anyone who has seen used oil analyses numbers before might be surprised at how low these numbers are. It appears that the Prius engine is quite nicely engineered , and lives an easy life. EDIT: I have revised the spreadsheet correcting the ScottY column

When you update this it might be nice if you coul add a separate field (a row) for the oil brand/model and another one for the weight so that we can sort and compare by oil. Again, Thank You. | |

Friends: 0 | [attachmentid=6201]Hi, I have added a few analyses and changed the way the spreadsheet is sorted, I also made some corrections to Jayman's analyses and added the lab and date where I can find them. I have also added a second sheet with PPM/1000 oil miles along with averages and standard deviation. This is only interesting for wear metals and contaminants but I included the data for additives as well. I did not include in the averages analyses for new engines (less than 5001 miles) and for analyses less than 5000 oil miles (because my analysis at 2.5K only had 1 ppm FE which I didn't really trust). Spreadsheet attached, let me know if my "corrections" are in fact incorrect, thanks. Dennis
