Hi! This is my first post, so please bear with me, and be forgiving if I make any mistakes, or etiquette errors.

I've noticed that, on occasion, my backup camera will not engage after putting the car in reverse. It doesn't happen all the time, just every once in a while. I don't think that it's anything major, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever had that problem, and if they bothered to take it to the dealer? This is on an 06, with package # 6.

Thanks!

I believe there was another incidence of this posted before and the screen went blank instead of showing the normal camera view. It probably was a intermittent or bad connection of the video signal or camera power in the cable from the rear hatch. I can't remember what the cure was.

Is this your symptom?

You should report this when you get the car serviced to record the occurance of the problem and perhaps they would reseat the connectors used in the chain from rear hatch to the MFD.

Thanks for the reply. No, my screen doesn't go blank. It just doesn't switch to backup camera view. Whatever screen that was on the MFD prior to going into reverse remains.

I've noticed that if I touch a button to change the MFD display (such as the BT phone or Navigation) while in reverse, it will cancel the backup camera. Could this be happening?

No buttons are pushed (at least on purpose). I think that it's probably just a contact that occasionally doesn't engage. Since it is an intermittent problem, I'll just watch it, and if it becomes more frequent, I'll take it to the dealer. No point doing that now, since it doesn't happen often enough, and the dealer would just think I was imagining things.

Thanks for all the replies.

Happened to me couple of times...I figured maybe I didn't step hard enough on the brake...tried that and no problem.

Thanks Terri, I think you're right about not stepping on the brake hard enough! I haven't had this happen to me again since I posted the original thread. This car is so different than anything I've ever had before, and there's alot to get used to. I absolutely love this car!!!
