Ok...today I notice that the right rear quarter section ofrubber bumper has pulled away from the car...and there is a tiny gap

It won't "pop" back on...my guess is that there is some kind of adhesive maybe that holds it in place.

I call Toyota Service.

No one to ask...too busy...make an appointment to come in Monday.

So I ask the woman...this is for my new Prius ...the right rear bumper has come away from the car...

"Oh.." she says. " Better you speak to someone first....I don't know if our Prius Specialist will be here that day."

So...now..she asks me to call back later today....and ask a manager.....

Anyone have the bumper pull away and get it stuck back on??? I didn't hit it, it's just hanging there.

I was going to get the Corolla bumper protector, but want to check this out first.

GRghhh...(and I'm still waiting for my Cargo net...I paid for it...don't have one...will try to get one....

Now that I have paid in full for this car....wouldn't you think someone would know...

about the bumper

how to get the cargo net for me

whether or not I have Roadside Service (no, but the manager now feels I should because of all the aggravation they put me through)...

Sorry, sounds frustrating!

FYI Mine was like that when I got it too. I took it back & they fixed it - no idea if it was glue or a clip or what.

It never recurred (I have a 2004).

a prius tech is only needed for the high voltage/electrical/computer systems. snapping a body panel on can be done by anyone who knows how a toyota body panel goes on.

I can't imagine why it would take a Prius Technician to put the plastic piece back on the bumper. Galaxee will be able to say for sure but I suspect any one in their shop should have been able to put it back on in about 10 minutes.

Have you thought about going to a different dealer? Just because you bought your car from them doesn't mean you are married to them. There are only two dealers within 70 miles or so of where I live and right now I'm not to thrilled with either of them.

EDIT: Galaxee beat me to it, looks like I guessed right anyway.

Thanks! He made it clear today that while it was under warranty, if it seems that I dislodged it, I will have to pay....Anyhow....I want it fixed so I'm just taking it in Monday at 1 and accepting the results....

terri

I may mention that this same thing happened to someone else and it was easily fixed....

There is a dealer that is much further away, but unless I get a health aide in for my hubby, I can't drive there and wait....I am going to stick with our regular dealer...the man who called back was very nice, not a "prius specialist" and it was clear to him it was a loose bumper issue....so we shall see.

This dealership was great to me when my tire blew out with only 20 miles on the car....I was in a real bind and didn't have my Allstate card (and they gave me Roadside thinking I had it, but they had me on hold until my cell signal went)...

I called the manager at the dealer that had handled my light problem...and he was kind enough to send someone right out...no charge, to change the tire. I gave the man who came $20...hope that was enough...and then went back to get tire fixed...took me right in...tire was slashed through...so I needed a new one and I was out within an hour and on my way to get my hubby to the hospital for a test....

so...so far, so good....we have dealt with this dealership for 30 years....but mostly our local mechanic did our work. With the Prius, I believe I will be going to Toyota.

Thanks for the input....I have to remember...It's only the bumper!!

I understand completely. I went through the same thing with my wife for a number of years, hang in there.

Stevens Toyota was great today!

My bumper was warped....so they ordered a new one...under factory warranty....

Gave me break on the Prius rubber mats....little over $80 for front and rear....

So...aok...plus they put in my cargo net....

Unfortunately...it isn't ....yet.

I went, the new bumper was put on....I drove away (without looking at it)...got to a store...and low and behold, the bumper is still pulled away from the car on the right rear side...and now a little on the left.

Went right back. Service man saw it, was puzzled, said something about how they aren't made that well, checked all the "bolts" from below holding it on, but the top part doesn't stay "connected" to the car...

I am going to live with it for now...they will check it again next time I go in....6 months...but he made a note in the record that it is a warranty issue and that I didn't hit the bumper on something...it just looks pulled away from the car..about 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch.

Only one person here mentioned having a similar problem.

The other dealership is quite far for me. Don't know why this isn't fixed, but I'm not going to let it go...he said I shouldn't let it go either....looks like they put some kind of adhesive along one section...when I try to pop it back in place, have to ease it away along the edge so whole section is over the car section.
