Friends: 0 | Hello, Does anyone know if there is an equivalent of http://techinfo.toyota.com for the Japanese Toyota models? Or some other method of obtaining say the overall wiring diagram of the Japanese 2004 Prius? Thanks! |

Friends: 37 | I've not heard of anyone coming across this, it certainly would be handy for lost of the features we didn't get in the ol' US of A. |

Friends: 0 | Since I posted this I had a chance to speak to a friend in Japan. He believes that Toyota does not grant individuals access to the wiring diagrams and repair manuals in Japan. Of course repair shops at the dealer must have access. Americans apparently are much more likely to work on their own cars than the average Japanese citizen - hence we have TIS. I have seen one page of the 2004 Japanese wiring diagram, though. From that diagram I learned that the television ECU sits between the Navigation display output and the MultiDisplay input. The TV camera output goes to the TV ECU. When in reverse, the TV ECU converts the TV signal from NTSC format to the format the MultiDisplay is expecting (red, green, blue, sync on separate wires). When not in reverse, the TV ECU just lets the nav display output pass through to the display. Still, if anyone runs into a pdf source for the Japanese Prius wiring, let us know here. Thanks.

Friends: 0 | The Japanese service manual (with all the wiring diagrams) is only available in CD-ROM and costs about $100. I haven't heard of anything equivalent to TIS in Japan. But I heard some people were lucky enough to borrow the CD from the dealer for a day or two... The TV ECU you mentioned is actually for the automatic parking assist. I don't believe you need this ECU just to attach a back up camera. I think the EU Prius has a backkup camera without the parking assist. Therefore I am searching for EU wiring diagrams. Anyone?
