Friends: 0 | I took HUMU into the dealer for the 30k checkup. Quite a list of items to cover including flushing the coolant for both the engine and possibly the inverter should it be needed. Just curious what others have paid for this service and what their dealers told them, etc. Bob |

I'll probably have the oil changed at a local lube place (either there or in Olympia), since they're are booked up all morning. Dave M.

Toyota's 30k service consists of oil, tires, both filters, and inspect a bunch of things. That's all. I suggest you reacquaint yourself with the Scheduled Maintenance Guide you should have received with your manual. Don't take their word for it.

Friends: 0 | I paid about $261 yesterday. They wanted me to add cleaning the injectors and new tires, but I said no. I'll get the tires elsewhere than from the dealer. |

Friends: 0 | <_< According to my "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" for 30,000 miles or 36 months the only additional items [compared to the previous periodic service items - engine oil & filter, tire rotation and inspection of brake linings] are replacing the cabin air filter and the engine air filter. There is a grocery list of "inspections" including the coolants, but flushing and replacing are NOT suggested. Sounds as if the Dealer used his "recommended" 30K service list rather than the Prius list... = MORE PROFIT for the Dealer. The 100K mile or 120 month list does include [/i]"Replace engine and inverter coolant" |

Friends: 0 | My dealer tried to get me to do all the stuff they do on most toyotas at 30,000 miles. I told him to look at the Prius service book. He brought in a mechanic, and the mechanic said I was right. What Charles posted above is what I had them do. Just refer to the Prius maintenance schedule you got with the car. (Another reason these cars are wonderful.) |

They are both easy to replace. Inexpensive preventive maintenance in my opinion and well worth it.
