Are there any oil gurus that can say if this blend is pretty decent, I read it is rated the same as amsoil?

It is mostly a group III base stock but is better than the dealer bulk oil. Look for some sales and get some Mobil 1.

I don't know how good the price is in comparison to other sources, but CostCo charges about $24 for a case of 6 quarts of Mobil 1. That's about good for two oil changes.

I bought some, but haven't used it yet.

That is the price of the old days. The Costco around my area charged about $29 or higher for a case of Mobile 1, slightly less than $5 per quart.

around here in mid missouri mobil 1 sells for 35.70 case of 6 per quart 6.10 each
for the trop artic case of 6 10.08 cost is 1.89 each ind.

so I will go with that. Checked on the oil site, it appears to be 76-86% synthetic if I read it right. but is grp III basestock.

Now my next question is if I use this for a few yrs. could I then change to a "real" full synthetic oil? after miles get high say around 60k or more

I say "real" becuase part of what I read about Trop Artic said it can be sold as a full synthetic in the US.

How, you got me!

Thanks All

How "old days"? I bought this within the past month. Was it a special?

You can switch between oil brands anytime you want.

Been reading up on Trop Artic oil over at Bob is the Oil Guy web site and it has a lot of fans. I picked up some for my first Prius oil change. At the Amsoil site the Trop Artic faired very well: http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/g1971/index.aspx
