Default Help! mechanical problem

I own a 2004 model Pruis that has 75,000 miles. Today the vehicle started acting very strange. When you come to a stop in the vehicle and put your foot on the brake the engine begins to accelerate . If you are driving and put your foot on the break the engine does the same. When I say accelerate, the engine is acting as if you are pushing the accelerator when you are not. Also, the cruise control stopped working. The check engine light is not coming on. Has anyone experienced this and have any advise?

The cruise control does not work if the car is in "B" transmission. Your other symptoms don't seem to relate to an inadvertent wrong gear setting so there may be other causes.

Get thee to a dealer. Toyota of Richardson has a nice waiting room.

Uhh, but as Bob writes below, first check the floor mat to see that it is restrained by the floor hooks.

Your floor mat may be riding up and/or bunched up. If this is the case, you may be in for an exciting ride.
