Default Speedometer panel does not work If I switch on the lights

Hi,
When I switch on my lights ,the speedometer display turns itself off.
This has been happening since I left my car for washing with the engine turned on & I took the keys with me.Could this be a cause?

Thanks
Shaq

Check the dashboard dimmer. (Thumbwheel pot on lower dash to the left of the steering wheel on USA versions)

Sounds like the car wash folks, while wiping down the dash, turned that dimmer switch to "zero".
