Default Front wheel bearing

Hello folks,
New member here. I have a '02 that has a bad front wheel bearing. Anyone here done this replacment themselves? I'm fairly adept with a wrench and am looking for any hints or unusal procedures that might be necessary before I get to taking thing apart. I know the bearings are sealed so it seems it should be fairly straight forward. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If I end up doing it myself I will be happy to post the experience for everyones benifit. Thanks, good to be here.

Hi James,

I haven't had occasion to do this yet. If you don't already have the 2002 repair manual, I suggest you download the relevant repair manual pages from techinfo.toyota.com which is a subscription website.

You'll probably need access to a press to install the new bearing dust deflector, which your friendly local machine shop could do for you. Other than that, it seems routine. Your front wheels probably should be aligned after the bearing change since camber will be affected when you remove the steering knuckle.

Good luck.

Here's one previous PriusChat thread on the subject:

http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-technical-discussion/38500-front-wheel-bearing.html

I'm sure it has been discussed on the Yahoo prius-technical-stuff group as well. I cannot perform the search there though (you can, if you are not in China
