Default 0w-30 for first change...?

Hello all,

About to do my first oil change this weekend on our new baby. Should have about 1300 miles and I'd like to make the switch to Mobil 1 syn oil. Any problem using 0w-30 in my new baby? Local auto parts store is running a special and I was just going to stock up for the next few changes.

Thanks in advance,

David

I did mine at 1000 and made the switch to Mobil One. I had alot of 10-30 in stock so I used that. I live in Fla and garaged so never a cold start. Peeps on here say I should be taking a mileage hit on the 10-30 so looking forward to putting in at least 5-30 maybe 0-30 next go. I av 48 mpg. But 5000 later the oil still looks brand new on the stick. Hard to believe how clean this car runs.I did change the filter out only again at 3000 as its really easy. I have a floor jack and just jack up the pass front at the front jack point about 3 inches so I can fit under there. Brace with a small jack stand and the filter comes out really easy. Factory filter $ 4. At this rate I won't have to get that 10-30 out there for another 5K. Good luck and your on the right track me thinks.

No need for the floor jack here. I picked up a set of low-profile ramps for my EBH install. I'm hoping to install a Fumoto valve as well, assuming it gets delivered in time. If not, then it'll just have to wait until I hit 6k or so.

Now I just have to decide on the filter...OEM or Purolator. Seems to be a wash either way from what I read.

Or $3.29/each plus shipping for a case of 10 oil filters from Champion Toyota Gulf Freeway (Houston), which amounts to around the same final price...

Decided on OEM Toyota and picked up a case of 10 on ebay for $35 shipped. Lucky me, they fit my trusty '95 Geo Prizm (Corolla) as well.
