Default Sears Craftsman 12V portable compressor!

Just got this delivered a couple days ago, and I'm pretty satisfied with what it does for $19.99. The digital pressure gauge alone is nearly worth $20.
My only gripe is that it's very slow (since it is powered by the car's 12V accessory battery), so it's best suited for a few psi increments. Which is all I usually need.

A big thanks to whomever it was that posted this in another Priuschat thread!

These are indeed, worthwhile. I've seen price drops on other brands to under $12.

As one of the many who has recommended a Craftsman portable 12V air compressor, you are welcome.

Question: Did you purchase the cordless one (75116) or the corded one with the digital readout (75114)?

I have the latter and am very pleased with it. It is not underpowered, and I think it does the job well and quickly. Cordless would be nice, but I don't know that it would provide the consistent power (it also is much more expensive). I also like the digital readout and the ability to set the pressure and then have the compressor fill the tire to that PSI. I also like the ergonomic features of the unit. Everything fits on the compressor or wraps into it. It stores in very little space, and it is not expensive. Right now, Sears is selling it for only $19.99.

I have both and was not impressed with the cordless one. The hose gets very hot where it exits the unit, and there are a number of reports of it breaking in the comments at the Sears site.

The corded one, however, seems quite nice.

I got one and it blew the fuse on the unit and on my Prius the first time I tried to use it. Still haven't had the time to return/exchange it for a different one.

Hmm... I haven't tried it on the prius yet. It worked fine on our Volvo S40 however. I was more worried about depleting the 12V battery.

I think I'm going to use one of these things to power it instead

Mine was definitely defective, as it shouldn't be blowing fuses. I just hope that the replacement is also not DOA. It would blow a fuse when trying to inflate anything. Turn it on without a load and it would run.

My dear Father gave me one of those portable jump-start packs with compressor built in, that he'd had and was no longer working. The compressor was not pumping air.
I took it apart and removed the head and piston from the cylinder. Turns out the compression ring around the piston had folded over (just plastic). So I folded it out and lubed everything, put it back together and all works quite well now. These things are worth $80.00 bucks and I've got a good one. It took 15 min. to fix
It's just a single cylinder engine that is electric driven. Don 't run 'em too long or they overheat and fold the ring.
