Friends: 0 | Unless you know what you are doing, your "kit" will wind up as a wadded up mess in your garbage can. It is not easy to do to properly. |

Friends: 1 | I contemplated and studied about putting the kit on myself. I even watched instructional videos, but came to the conclusion that I'd let the good people at Ziebart install mine. They did a phenomenal job and it looks fantastic! No chips and bugs literally fall off. Well worth the $500.00! |

Friends: 13 | Monday, I just finished putting this kit on my 2008. As noted by other posters, It's a difficult job although one without any experience at all can do it, but I'm really patient and kept at it, learning the ropes, I'm much more confident now and will do other parts of my car in the next couple days. Enclosed are a few pics of the project I said on PC, that I would do. With no experience whatsoever, it completed successfully. I used both the kit and a 20ft uncut roll. I used the kit to cover the lower bumper and sides. I left off the hood kit. Using the 20ft roll I created a template from paper to make two 5 inch strips (folding over the hood edges) which a Toyota bra is now covering. You can see the film underneath it. And soon I will cover the entire lower bumper with the rest of the Toyota bra. Also a photo of the removed front Toyota emblem is for the folks who wanted to see what's behind there, simply glue and the guide pins. The film is .3mil, I'm told, not the .8mil, which is one reason it acts as paint protection behind the bra. I didn't like the plastic line running horizontally across the hood with the pre-cut kit. It really looked bad on Super White, very noticeable. The entire kit was a very affordable but ridiculous $25, the roll was extra. Oh, and I put 4 complete layers of Zaino Z2 + ZFX, 4 layers of Z6 and one Z-CS prior to all this. So I've got protection (Bra) atop protection (Clearshield) atop protection (4 coats of Zaino) atop clearcoat atop paint. ZC1 Last edited by ZC1; 05-27-2008 at 11:56 PM. |

also, my understanding is that the paint surface should be thoroughly cleaned (no dirt, wax, etc) prior to installation to ensure the best bond btw the material and paint. wouldn't shellacking 9 layers of whatever-all-that-stuff-is onto your paint before installing the clear bra decrease its adhesion?

The 3 week old car was washed, clayed TWICE, wiped down, and then Zaino'd and the film applied right after the Zaino CS dried. It adhered fine during installation, and still is adhering, I don't expect any problems. ZC1

Friends: 0 | If you're talking about the Xtremecity product, then the hood, side pieces and mirror pieces weren't very difficult. Can't say the same for the bumper, though. It has too many sharp curves. Whatever you do, watch out for lint! Searching for other strings on this topic will yield a lot of advice. |

Friends: 0 | I have one on my TCH and am very happy with it. We also had one on our Honda for 3 years, I am a believer in them. |

Friends: 0 | For correct information regarding the Paint Protection Film product, shoot me a pm or email to mike@pro-finish.com. The majority of comments made in this post regarding PPF are incorrect. I've got 13 years of design and installation experience to my benefit in this area. I'd be glad to help set the record straight. |
