Default Mileage not resetting after fill up

I was under the impression that this will automatically reset. Is this true? If so, how do I get this to work? It's no biggie to press the Reset button on screen, but...what the heck. Thanks.

might sound funny, but i power up the car at the station and wait until the gas gauge slowly ticks up to full. then i put the car in drive and roll out. works every time for me.

Fill at least 10 litres and it will reset automatically.

Do you mean your trip ODO? Or your average MPG/mileage reading on your consumption screen? If you fill over a certain amount, the average MPG/mileage reading on the consumption screen should reset automatically. The trip ODO won't reset unless you do it yourself (by holding down the ODO button with the one you want to reset is up). Oh, and I don't think the consumption screen MPG/mileage resets instaneously, so maybe you're not waiting long enough before deciding to hit the reset button? This is of course on a 2004/2005 Prius. I don't think it auto-resets on the Classic.

i never bother to wait. i simply hit the reset after ive captured the info for mileage tracking purposes. for accuracy, i use Trip A for mileage. i only reset to make sure the tank mileage is sync'd with Trip A mileage.

I do mean the consumption screen reset. I recall seeing it do so once, but not since then. I'm driving out of the station and it still hadn't reset, perhaps I need to wait till I'm down the block...will try that next time. I usually fill the tank (10+ gallons).

Yes, just be patient, it takes about 30 seconds or so. Watch the fuel guage...it will slowly add one bar after another, when it hits 10 full bars shortly after you'll see the consumption screen reset on its own.

over more than half a tank and you fill it won't reset automatically.
less than half a tank and it will reset.
Classic, you have to manually reset

i think he is referring to the slow speed at which it does reset.

Maybe, but your technique doesn't help anything. If you watch, even if you manually reset the consumption screen immediately upon start up then start driving it will automatically reset again once the fuel guage reaches the 'full' mark. Your trip A and Consumption mileage will still be a few tenths of a mile apart (assuming you've been moving all that time).
