Friends: 0 | I recently received a positive Blackstone report on a 12k OIC using Mobil 1 Extended. Mobil says I could have gone to 15k and Blackstone agrees. The TBN was 2.4. I am now trying Amsoil SSO 0W30 and going for 20k (1 year). Annual savings on 5 cars is about 16 gallons of motor oil! Plus with one per year oil changes, I can do all the cars in one morning. I'll be using the Amsoil filters until the hybrid screw in filters (regular plus by-pass filtration) become available. Last edited by Dr Rocket; 07-06-2008 at 10:44 PM. Reason: adding pdf |

Friends: 16 | Sounds good, I'm sure BlackStone also tested residuals and metals. You could try to scan the report after censoring any personal information (Name, address, etc). Convert to a jpg or an Adobe Acrobat document and attach it |

Friends: 1 | FYI, you can request Blackstone to send you a rtf file. Then you can edit out the personal info. Use any free PDF converter (Google for one) to produce a PDF file and post here. |

Friends: 1 | Nice report - I'm glad that M1 EP is good for at least that long. Currently I have Mobile 1 *regular* 5W30 in my Prius and at the 5000 mile interval I'm going to switch it out to Amsoil and try and get 15,000 or 20,000 mile intervals. I will test the M1 I have and the Amsoil at at every 5,000 initially to make sure all is well. Good to see a syntetic oil doing what it was designed to do. Rumple |

Friends: 0 | I drive about 50 miles per day, half city stop & go and half highway (car pool lane ).Now that I have switched to Amosil 0w30, I am getting about 10 percent more mpg. I used to get 44 to 45 and now 49 to 50. Of course this is just one tank of gas, and with fewer on the road these days, it may have something to do with it. I'll keep you informed. |

Friends: 1 | Great report, thanks. Going to 10,000 - 15,000 mile oil change intervals will help keep oil out of the waste stream. The first rule of conservation is that it is even better to not use something in the first place, even with a recycling program. I am currently running ordinary Mobil 1 5W30 in my 2007 Prius. I'm planning on switching it out at 5,000 miles and going to Amsoil 0W20 for what I hope will be 15,000 mile intervals. I'll sample it at 5,000 and 10,000 miles to insure that everything looks good with running the oil that long. Rumple |

Friends: 0 | Interesting....I have M1 0w20 synthetic with 8400 miles on the oil. I am amazed at how the oil appearance is still as clear as the day I put it in!! I haven't tested it but it still looks new!! My other vehicles' oil turns dark brown/black at @ 3k. Is this what most everyone else notices with their PRI ??? Is it the synthetic??? or is it just the Hybrid characteristics??? Going by the oil appearance , I definitely feel 15k is easily obtainable.....if not further... |

Friends: 0 | Wow! Excellent report. Great viscosity, insolubles, flashpoint, fuel. Hard to believe that the oil was in there for 12k miles. What kind of oil filter did you use? |

Friends: 0 | at 10K I have the "maint req'd " light now on. I checked my oil and everything's great there. I'm almot positive it is the oil light as it started blinking at start up for a week before it stayed on.... just as it did at my first oil change. Does the computer use a mileage calculator to determine when to suggest the oil change or something more complicated. Also, why at 10k? Is that what Toyota recommends via the car as the oil change interval? Oil still looks perfectly clear. I'd hate to change it for nothing. I figured to be able to go at least 12-15k with how it looks. Any help or advise please??????????????????
