Default The new navigation update stinks

Today I had the Navigation updated from 3.1 to 4.2 Later after I get home I went to put in a destination and got a message DVD is damaged or needs cleaning so I pulled in out and it had a thumb print .Wiped if off and gave it another try and it seemed to work . Went out for a ride Put in a destination and it won't Auto Reroute anymore. I checked the menu and reroute was on. Also the main highway is named wrong and now POIs that were in my old version are not there now .It's terrible I want my old disk back.

Then go get your old disk. I'm not too suprised that the POIs are changed. I talked the company that produces these disk and i have to say i was not impressed with our conversations. The solution was simple though. Email them where destinations are and they will put it into their system. Only if we had some way of making our car remember the errors and then uploading them.

I have a similar problem with reroute, although mine is intermittent. I just noticed it today, which is the first time I've used the new system. Part of the problem occurred at my house, so I KNOW FOR SURE that this is worse than the old version. I am not sure if I can go backwards or not, but I want the old version! I could deal with its minor inaccuracies.

Gotta say that I used the new NAV 4.2 yesterday for the first time to find a fairly obscure residential address on an irregular street (i.e. not a standard city block with evenly spaced houses).

I got the "bing" and "You have arrived at your destination" from 'Sophie' just as the car was passing the front door of my programmed destination. One time, one example is pure annecdote of course, and not a true test of say 100 different destinations in 100 different cities/locations, but in my case for this one trip I sure have no complaints.

Yes you can go back to your old version I did I took the Prius into Toyota and told them In my area every thing was wrong POIS, large lakes rivers missing. Street names wrong, and no guidance in my area. The service lady said you can't go back once you updated I said bull give me my old disk back installed there and every thing was fine now by mistake they almost let me keep the updated disk .

I'm assuming you did this, but just in case... with the new update, you did remember to change your home region right? I haven't gotten the update yet (I have 4.1 and I haven't had any major problems so far), but I have heard that after you do the update, the home region is often reset to the NE. The wrong region might be why you can't do basic things that you should be able to around your house.

I don't think I am having the same problem as the other person who already went back. In my case, the locations all seem correct and I even notice that the end destination is more accurate than before. But, if you make a wrong turn very close to the beginning or the end destination, the NAV system does not reroute and never says anything to you about the fact that you aren't aiming toward your destination. I don't think it is the reroute setting, since it does reroute sometimes (in the middle of the trip we pulled over and went to a Starbucks and the thing whined at us the whole time, which is what I expected). Also, to whovere suggested making sure the region is correct - the maps all look good and the car looks like it is not on the route when the problem occurs. It's just that the system does not set up a reroute and my guess is that it is related to how close to the endpoint I am.

I called Toyota service this morning and am rescheduling my service appointment (need the brake light fix too) so that they can look at it. They want it for all day and will give me a free loaner. I LOVE my car and the people who work on it. I just hope they can find something to fix (I am a little worried Priuscilla will be well behaved for them.).

I just got my upgrade and I'm not happy at all. I had very impressed with my 4.1 version and thought 4.2 would be even better. Well, it is no better that Map Quest and Yahoo Maps at finding my house. I live in a gated community with only one way in and out. 4.1 knew this somehow and never tried to send me through walled-off streets. Well, 4.2 does. I wish there was a way to educate the system on preferred routes. Of course, I know how to get home and out of the community but if it gets that wrong, I lose my confidence in the rest of the directions. I have a call into the service dept. - may change back.
