Default 2005 Pruis Rear Wiper Replacement

The 2006 procedure implies I reuese harness and only replace blade.

I purchased blade from dealer as not local auto parts had one. Now, How do I remove the blade from the arm?

Its not easy to remove the wiper blade from the arm. Rather than risk breaking it, I just removed the rubber from the rear wiper while in place.

When I changed mine out, I just removed the rubber insert without removing the wiper blade assembly. If you lift the wiper blade off the glass a little (not too far) you can bend the rubber insert down and guide it around the retaining tab at the end of the wiper blade. Then just pull the rubber insert out.

Unless the Prius is different than other cars it should be easy to get the entire blade off. You should just have to lift the blade off the window, then with a firm motion give it a push down on the arm and it should release. I don't know how else to describe the process. Perhaps someone else can put it in words better. Once again that's how all wipers I've ever replaced are done... not sure if the Prius for some reason is different than most.

The procedure with pictures is on John's site at John's Stuff - Toyota Prius and more. Look at Prius Info > Wiper Blades.

To all,

It may be simple, but not apparent. I change the front blades every 10K miles. Right now I have 90K on my 05 purchase late Dec 04, after my 92, 4 cyl Camry was totalled with 250K miles. Only Pruis in the area.

I decided to just replace the blade and re-use the arm and blade assembly. I think the hard push down might work. Next time I will just purchase the re-fill blade and not the blade and holder.

To change rear wiper blade, first remove cover where wiper arm attaches to car tilt arm up from window. Grasp lower end of wiper blade and pull it away from arm (about 45 degrees) then lift blade up and out from arm.
