Friends: 0 | Greetings... My wife picked up her new Prius yesterday and made excuses to go to the store this morning. When she returned, she parked in the driveway and let me unload some groceries from the back. I went inside and she got a call on her cell. The next thing I know, I hear a bang and then a crunching sound. She apparantly forgot that the hatch was up, pulled into the garage (bang), then tried to back out (crunching sound). I ran out and freed the spoiler from the garage door. There do not appear to be any scratches or problems with the paint, but the spoiler appears to be bent slightly up. I attempted to gently push it back down but it does not want to go all the way down. Before I do something stupid, I thought I would check to see if anyone has any knowledge on how the rear spoiler is removed and/or attached. If it is just held on with plastic clips and is easily popped off, that is one thing. If it is more involved, then maybe it needs to go back to the dealer. She has had it not even one full day and feels horrible. I just want to fix it and make it all better. Thanks, Stu |

Friends: 23 | Wow, Stu. That stinks. Some people have Technical Specifications documents or something like that. I have seen pictures of the spoiler removed, but not details on how to remove it. Check out the PDF document in this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/oem-back-up-ca...led-vt5997.html |

Friends: 0 | Thank you, Frank. With the link that Tony pointed me to I figured out how to take it off. Once off, I found that she had bent the metal up around the bolts that hold the spoiler on. I was pounding down the metal around the third hole when my hammer nicked the back glass... that was it... a million pieces. I am heartbroken. I made it worse. Anybody have any idea how long it takes to replace the lower back glass? |

Friends: 0 | It's probably in stock at the area distribution center, most body parts are. I would say probably 1-3 days and any auto glass shop should be able to put it in. When you go to your dealer ask him for all the little pieces that go with the glass there are some small guide strips and spacers as well probably under 20$ for them and as for the name of the glass shop the dealer uses. |

Friends: 0 | Call around and get price quotes for the part from independent auto glass shops. In my experience, the "after market" glass is identical to OEM (right down to the brand name etchings) and costs half as much as the identical "factory original glass" costs at the dealerships. |
