Friends: 44 | Maybe your front rotors are a bit rusty. You can try cleaning the brakes. Find a road with light traffic, get up to 45-50 mph. Then shift to N and moderately brake to a stop. Repeat a few times, see if that helps the noise issue. |

Friends: 1 | Is the screech when you apply them - suggesting the rotors - or at low speeds when they are not applied - suggesting a pad staying in contact when it shouldn't. My rotors were replaced at 30k under warranty and the pads at 50k, not under warranty. |

Friends: 0 | Or there's a stone stuck in one. Pads on a Prius should easily last 50,000 miles (unless you do lots of mountain driving and ride the brakes a lot). |

Friends: 0 | Pads might just be worn down. At 29k I'd just take it to the dealer and ask to have the brakes looked at really quickly if it's still under warranty. |
