Default rear brake noise that never goes aways...

I have this squeak occur everytime i press the brake. How long it squeaks varies. Speed and temperature does not affect it. I have had multple people, multiple times including two different toyota dealerships, clean and adjust my rear right brake. Which the dealership suggested i should do.
I have a '07, bought brand new. It started squeaking around 6700mi and i am now at 33,000. After the service is done it does not squeak for a couple days then gradually it becomes louder going right back to the beginning.
Im guess im just asking for any suggestions or comments before i go back to the dealer and have them sell me something that i dont need.
Thanks.

my 2005 started having the right rear squeek (warm weather, low speed braking) at around 59K and i'm almost to 60K, the brake shop that changed the rotors & pads on my lil sis' corolla said I prob just need to clean/adjust rear brakes, i was planning on taking advantage of their 'free brake inspection' but you know all those places find tons of extra things wrong that don't need to be fixed.

so if anyone knows the real 'solution' to the rear brake squeek plz let us know

If you drive on gravel roads, the dust and fine pebbles can get into rear drum brakes, and make a racket. If you frequently drive in the rain, drum brakes can also get noisy until they dry out.

On the 2007 FJ Cruiser, there is a TSB for squealing/moaning brakes. The fix is to replace the pads. Since the brakes only squeal when wet/cold at first drive, I'm not going to worry about it

Otherwise, I have no idea why your brakes are making so much noise

just an update, i came back from brake shop, $36 for rear brake drums clean/adjust, $2.50 for shop & environmental fees, $38.50 total, not bad since that is the first money ever spent on brake work on my '05 with 60K miles.

fyi all brake bark/noise is gone!!! unlike front brakes which are disc brakes and all the brake dust falls out onto the wheels, the prius has rear drum brakes and all the brake dust is 'locked up' in the drum, although it keeps the wheels nice & clean drum brakes do need to be cleaned & adjusted every once in a while & they do suffer more brake fade than disc brakes (either by driving in rain or by repeated hard stops).

my rear brake shoes has 3.5mm left (new is about 4.5mm) so i've got about 75% left on the rear brake shoes

front brake pads have 8mm left (new is 11mm), so once again i've got about 75% of brake pads left.

my rotors will probably rust and my brake fluid will probably need to be flushed before my pads ever need to be replaced!! you gotta love regenerative brakes!!!!

by comparison my sisters' corolla at 48Kmiles just the other day needed new front pads (worn down to metal) and had the rotors turned, about $200 at a non-dealership brake shop, plus another $36 to clean & adjust the rear brakes

Happy to hear you solved the noise problem

Remember that only the dealership, or a shop with the genuine Toyota scantool, can properly bleed the brakes on a Prius

A good place to start any brake related maintenance is the sainted
Hobbit's detailed, illustrated Brake service write-up.

Tons of cool, though technical, Gen II stuff on his web site too:,
http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/

Hope this helps.

As Rokeby posted, Hobbit's detailed instructions cover that.

Caliper slides allow the brake caliper to move on the caliper mounting bracket. They have to move to allow pressure to be applied on the pads, to brake the car.

When the brakes are released, the caliper must back off to release pressure on the pads
