Friends: 26 | Hi, I'm a new member of the site- been lurking for a while as I waited for my precious new car to come.... I have found tons of great info and the more I read the harder it is to wait! I have been told I only have to wait another 2-4 weeks, I am at the top of the waiting list for a Seaside pkg5. Been waiting since November! My husband is a mechanic at the Toyota dealership, currently working in express lube because the dealership has been slow to enroll him in Toyota training and move him up to the line. They have had lots of distractions lately. (yes, he is reallllyy frustrated about that) Since we're getting the Prius so soon he's all excited to learn all about the intricate details of them. I've seen some Prius techs on the site and was wondering what you guys had to do to achieve that designation? He's really interested in doing that. He's got 5 ASE cert's and will be taking 2 more in May if any of those are required... Thanks in advance to anyone who answers. NM |

Friends: 1 | He should be able to get the Technician Certification table from his service manager. It will show him what is required at each level in the Certification Program.Or he can find it at the UOT site.Basically, he needs 5 years with Toyota, all 8 ASE's and about 14-15(total flucuates)classes with Toyota. Also he needs to keep up on all his online tests. This will get him to the Master Technician level which is required to be trained on the Prius. You can PM me with any specific questions, |

Friends: 26 | Thanks Rick Sounds like my husband has a few years experience (and a few ASEs and Toyota classes) to gain before he can do that kind of work. I'll get back to ya in 4 1/2 years when he's been with Toyota long enough to qualify- ha! It's good to know that the Master Techs are very well qualified though NM |
