Default Oil Filter Wrench

I'll be changing the oil in my 2005 for the first time here shortly and it sounds pretty easy but I can't find that filter-end wrench, the Checker #32100-10605 or the Autozone part, that's referenced in several instructions. I think Kragen bought Checker and the number isn't recognized. Autozone doesn't seem to have one on line either. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

Buy the filter and walk down the aisle to the filter wrenches. Take the filter out of the box and try wrenches until you find the right size. Buy the wrench. Done.

Thanks,
Shawn
PS I know from experience that this method works, for that is what I did.

If you happen to have one big enough, try a pair of channel-locks. Works well, and won't cost you anything. Just a thought.

Thanks everybody! So I guess the filters are available at just about any auto parts store? I thought I might have to go to Toyota.

Where do you put the oil after you change it?

Where I live (San Jose, CA) you can put it in containers and it will be picked up by the recycle folks at curbside.

Actually, I did stop a dealer for the filter (and oil plug washer) and then stopped in the parts store (Checker). But don't worry, the filter for the Prius is used in a number of Toyotas, so an equivalent will be at most/all parts stores.

I bring it back to where I bought the new oil (also Checker).

Thanks,

Wow, that's great. We in Georgia have to take the oil *and* filter to a recycling station or PepBoys, Firestone, Walmart etc. I'm afraid to some folks dump instead of recycle.
