Default Hydro 4000 - but does it work on a hybrid?

Hydro 4000 Story

This device will set you back $1200 but the tv station that reported on it verified that it DOES work. They took what looks like your basic Chrysler gas hog that tested at 9 mpg before installation and 23 mpg after. To anyone with a hybrid, that might evoke a yawn but it's an improvement of 60% so I wonder if, say, you could install it on a Prius and get 100 mpg?

I'm not sure about this one. If it truly does work, I think that the biggest benefit you will see is that your battery will be fully charged more often. So far, anytime someone has modified the gasoline part of the hybrid synergy drive, they have only noted minor gains if any. My personal theory is that the secret of getting more performance out of a Prius lies in the electric motor and the computer programming that controls how the car behaves. Even Toyota has alluded to the fact that the Prius could be faster and more powerful if they were to change the computer to run the car for best performance instead of highest efficiency.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I'll wait until I see results from an independent, scientific, and controlled test environment before I make any conclusions.

The article says:

"... we found that even with an oil change, clean air filter and proper tire
pressure, we were averaging roughly 9.4 miles to the gallon.

"We then ran our truck on the street for close to a month with the Hydro-
4000 running. The owners said this would give the device time to clean out
the engine. We then put our vehicle back on the dynamometer, and did the
same test all over again.

"And guess what? With the device on, we were now averaging 23.2 miles to
the gallon. That's 61% better than the gas mileage we were previously getting.

"We also road tested the device. There we averaged 16-point-one miles to
the gallon, which is 58% better than before."

How do they get the 61% and 58% improvement figures? These alleged
improvements are substantial, but the numbers don't work:

23.2 MPG/9.4 MPG = 2.46, 146% improvement -- now that's unbelievable.
16.1 MPG/9.4 MPG = 1.71, 71% improvement. -- possible, but improbable.

Where do their numbers come from? Am I missing something?

Or do I smell a rat?

Every time one of these comes around it all winds up pointing
back to "pureenergysystems" and PESwiki with all the "magnetic
motor" nonsense and other really-wanna-believe-it newidge crap
with hundreds of illiterate comments from the gullible. How
many red flags does it take? If ANY of this worked, we wouldn't
have a forum all about Priuses.

I will say it again: You cannot improve gas mileage with electrolysis if the energy for electrolysis comes from the ICE. Period. It's against the laws of physics.

Read all about it here

yes but what if the hydrogen actually help the burning of gas, that means improve the efficiency of gas use.
if we then can use a part of the energy that was lost before and that this part is greater than the energy used to make the hydrogen, wouldn't it work...

If you were producing excess oxygen you might have a valid point to make. But, you're not.

gosh and none of the major car manufacturers have bought up the patent so they could instantaneously increase their fleet mileage??? i wonder what consumer reports says.
