Friends: 9 | I've been experimenting with a new route to work...it's an extra mile and an extra 5 minutes of driving...but hard to argue with the results I got the other day (see pic). From the point where I usually turn taking my old route the new route is mostly downhill and gets me out of the 45+ mph range and into the less than 40 mph range and in EV mode longer due to stop lights and traffic (never thought I'd be driving a car hoping for more traffic). For the ride home I'll test the new route but it seems to be more uphill than the old route...may stay with the old route for driving home. As the pic shows, this tank has been going well for me...63.4 mpg over 405 miles. I'm at 63.2 mpg after 430 miles currently with a fill-up due in the next couple days. Maybe this new route will get me to 65+ mpg?!? Stand by to stand by!

Friends: 2 | Matt, you've made one of the fundamental adjustments necessary to get MAX- FE; the route matters. The corollary is that the best outbound route is not necessarily the best homebound route. There are good hills and bad hills. Good hills are short, steep climbs with long, gradual descents to maximize no-arrow glides, and perhaps, maybe, no arrow, Neutral glides -- saves just a little SOC -- but you have to get back into D to get regen on slowing/braking. Lights that are timed to change in sequence one way, usualy aren't in the other. You have to get to know your routes "up close and personal." Keep up the good work. |
