Hmm

Buy a Prius Jan 1

Fed Tax Credit - $3150
Google Employee Rebate - $5000
State Tax Credit (CO or WV, maybe others - ~$3400)

DC Waives the Sales Tax on Hybrids - so figure $1800 savings (and also discounts Hybrid Registration).

So, $10K Plus off the purchase price.

Nice

Who pays the rebate, Google or Toyota? Sounds fishy.

http://www.google.com/support/jobs/bin/sta...e=benefits.html
Fuel Efficiency Vehicle Incentive Program

But in CA:
-$5000 Google Reimbursement (taxed)
-$3150 IRS
+ HOV lanes (Priceless)

Made that 2006 #8 look good to me.

I have some friends who work at Google. Amazing place, and wonderful side benefits. (However, still not able to compensate for living in the Bay area.)

My group subsidizes bikers (they are into bikers because the Medical Director is a biker) and car poolers. It is not a lot of money, but it does acknowledge the effort. I am pushing for them to do the same with hybrids. We shall see.
