Dear all,

My name is Gordon Hewitt and I am a fourth year student at Trinity College Dublin, studying Economics and Sociology. As part of my degree I am required to complete a dissertation, and through my research I have decided to conduct a study into whether society’s attitudes towards automobility and car usage are changing in the light of global warming and climate change. Of particular interest to me are the new technologies emerging that have been created to reduce green house emissions, especially hybrid cars such as the Toyota Prius.

As part of my methodology, I plan to conduct a number of interviews with hybrid car users. I am currently searching for potential interviewees, and was wondering if anyone living in Ireland would be willing to be interviewed about their experiences driving a hybrid. The interview would take around an hour, and would have an informal structure. If anyone is willing to speak to me, or find out more about what I am doing, please do not hesitate to email me at hewittg@tcd.ie. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Gordon Hewitt.

P.S. I have had an excellent suggestion of interviewing over the net using MSN messenger or other chat software. How would people feel about that?

Intereseting research.

Please remember to post updates and your final report here. I think many of us would like to read it!

Unfortunatley I live in Boston, MA, USA so I seem to be outside of your search area.

Gordon, there are two Yahoo groups where you might also announce. They are called Prius-Europe and Prius-UK, each with about 700 members.

Gordon,

The PriusChat map (Europe) is blank for Prius owners in Ireland so if you find any I suggest you talk them into joining PC and marking the map with their location!
Have you written to all the Toyota dealers in your area to ask how many Prius they have sold?

And why don't you ask Prius people here to the interview with Messanger, IRC, or something?

Just wanted to say "Hey" Gordon. Or Dia duit.
I lived and worked in Ireland for a while. Do I qualify?

Or if you have the funding and time, you can fly me and my Prius over to Ireland, I can drive around for about a year - maybe more - and then I'll give you my impressions. I think it's a brilliant idea!

Hi there, interviewing through Messenger would be a great idea. I am going to check out a few ideas I have been having, but would you be interested in being interviewed. Hope all is well, Gordon.

Hi Tony, sadly my budget does not stretch that far, but I was thinking about conducting some interviews over the net using MSN messenger. The idea is new and needs development, but if I decide to run it would you be free for an interview some time this week? Hope all is well, Gordon.

Hi Gordon,

I do not know what 'messenger' is, but if you talking about irc, I'm game. Consider time difference to New Mexico US (US M.S.T).

btw, greenhybrid.com has a chat room. You could congregate there (registration beforehand may be required). If you spoke with the admin, he might be willing to advertise the occasion, and ensure you get drowned with responses

Good Luck

Addendum: just saw your OP mentioned chat software. I have aol and yahoo accounts, as well as irc software.
