I have a brand new 1500 miles package 5 2006 Prius. When braking at low or high speeds, it pulls to the left approximately 65% of the time.

I took it to the dealer, they drained the brakes and reilled the lines and did all kinds of tests. They told me it was normal.

I balked and the service manager took 2 cars they had on the lot (brand new, just off the truck) and he told me they both did the same thing. Conclusion- this is normal for the Prius.

Any comments? I really appreciate your advice on where to go with this, after TTL and extended warranty I paid over $32,000.00 for the vehicle and I don't think this is acceptable.

Thanks for any comments or help directing me on this issue!

sorry brakes don't pull to the left or the right for that matter. There is something wrong with this car. Take it back.

Neither our '04 or '06 has ever shown such a symptom. Make 'em fix it! The " ... that's normal ... " response is typical BS.

cheers

has it done that since you got it? or started somewhere along the way? could be the tires. could be a number of things. where are you located? maybe someone here could point you to a good local service department. i'd get a second opinion if i were you.

I posted a similar thread about 500-800 miles after purchasing my 2005. I searched for the thread, but I think it was lost in the server crash.

Mine did not pull right off the lot. It started happening one day for no obvious reason (I did not hit anything, etc.)

Since then (last July), I have had it realigned, brakes checked, tires checked and rotated, and have complained about it my 2 service visits. Now 12,000 miles later, it still does it. It doesn't do it at all speeds, just in casual slow down braking as I am pulling up to traffic signal. If I brake on the highway, it does not pull (actually not pull on the car, it sort of pushes hard to make the steering wheel move counter clockwise).

I've compensated for it, but as I get closer to the 15,000 mark, I need to press the issue. I've posted elsewhere about the lousy service I am getting from my closest Toyota dealer and had planned on switching this next service. Maybe I'll get some help there. Maybe you should get 2nd opinion too, cause I can tell you that it is not going to go away.

I have not swapped out the tires. I'm thinking too that it might be the tires. I was planning on putting some additional miles on the tires, but maybe 15,000 would be a good time to swap out.

it's done it since day 1, but of course I was excited about the vehicle so it didn't really start to bother me until about 2 weeks into it

2006 - level 4 - 2,000 miles: Along with brake inspection you may wish to have them check tire balances. Steering wheel was positioning right of center for straight ahead driving. Dealer said tire balances were OFF. Good luck!
