Friends: 0 | Well, commuting in this morning from Baton Rouge to New Orleans at 5am, I had a sudden meeting with a loose 18-wheeler tire tread. It appeared in the middle of the road and I rolled over/hit it with the right side of the car. I promptly pulled over to see that the plastic guard behind the front bumper and the right wheel well were broken off and bent all over hell and back. Nothing else seemed to be damaged, aside from a little paint off the side of the front bumper. I limped to a gas station where I did a better inspection to see that a plastic piece underneath by the tail also had been ripped partially off. Bought some duct tape and continued on to New Orleans (MPG went noticeable down with the extra drag, by the way). Took it to the dealer, and after a couple of hours, the service guy says that the three plastic pieces underneath the car need to be replaced, but aside from that, everything looks good. The parts should come in tomorrow, with a grand total of parts/labor being $309, which really is not that bad, considering. Is it ok for me to consider this my "one accident" for the life of the car?
