Friends: 0 | Now that I have the CAN-View, I can see the actual percentage level of the fuel in my tank (as reported by the fuel sensor to the CAN bus.) While I was in Bellevue I filled my tank. Level was 17% and after the fill it was 97% (showing, BTW, that at the first click it really is full, as near as makes no difference). I got 8.5 gallons in. Doing the math, this means that my actual tank capacity is 10.6 gallons. The caveat is that under different conditions the bladder capacity will be different. It was a cool, but not a cold day, in Bellevue, and I had just driven about an hour, returning from Lacey. I'm really interested now to see how full the tank is when the last bar starts to blink. I could not wait for that this time because I needed to fill up before returning home. Second caveat: I don't know if the reported level is accurate. The Prius "guess guage" is notorious.

Friends: 2 | That's nice to know...do all CAN-View's show the tank % levels? I wasn't interested in getting it before, but that might actually be quite useful to have. I'll keep this in mind...thanks, daniel! |
