Default Toyota offering regional options

Looking at the toyota.com site, I discovered that they are no longer posting all of the options. Based on my location in the DC area, they now have three available A, B, and C. "A" is equivalent to Package 4 (AG), "B" is the same as Package 7 (AM), and "C" is equal to Package 9 (BC). I then entered a zipcode for Seattle and got different results. A=1, B=5, C=7, and D=9.

Have they done this to make regional allocations more realistic for the buyers, or are they intentionally trying to make a bad situation worse?

When I ordered my car back in October of last year, the Mid Atlantic region was only offering 3 Packages - Base, AM and BC

I also check back to the toyota site. In fact it HAS changed. I also noted in my Area, Cleveland, they have 4 packages availabe. Base, Packages 6, 7, and 9. Also I noted that there is a little flag next to the 6 and 7 packages indicated that there is Limited stock in these models.

Sounds as if they're finally being up-front about Toyota limiting option packages by region.

Dealers have been mentioning this for months, and it's been mentioned frequently on PriusChat, but I've yet to see Toyota show this clearly in their literature/web site.

Would one of you post that magic url? All I can find lists all of the options, same as before, with nothing about regional limitations.

If I'm not mistaken, your region is determined when you enter your zip code.

Just go to www.toyota.com and select vehicles, cars, Prius. Enter your zip code. Of course it doesn't seem to be working at the moment :-)

They do have this Thank you for your interest in the 2004 Prius. Currently, dealers are experiencing a temporary shortage of Prius vehicles. Click here for more.

If you are in the market for a new 2004 Prius, we appreciate your patience. There is currently a waiting list at many dealerships across the country. Since the vehicle launched in October of 2003, there has been an extremely high demand for the 2004 Prius with Hybrid Synergy Drive. Toyota is making every effort to increase production to try and respond to the current high levels of demand. We'd like to thank you for your patience. For more information about the Prius inventory situation in your area, please visit your local dealer.

How long is "temporary" :-)
