Sometimes when I turn the car off and leave the SKS in my hand or purse, the car will beep 3 times. I cannot figure out what this is. It seems to only happen at home. The only thing different about work or home is I never lock my car at home and I always lock it at work or while shopping, etc.

Can someone help me....and yes, I searched here and I have read the manual and can't find this problem.

3 outside beeps usually means the car is still on... other than that I can't think of any reason it should do that

That is the only thing I could find in the manual but the car is off. I even went back out and checked to make sure it was not in ACC or IG-ON and it was not, it was completely off.

My usual sequence of events is to pull in the driveway, put my foot on the brake, pick up my keys or my purse, hit the power button and open the door. All this is done rather quickly in my driveway. Could it be a timing thing? Maybe it thinks I am leaving the car before it is all the way off? The only reason I think this could be the answer is I probably am a little slower to leave the car at work.

Does the bluetooth connection beep? Sometimes my phone will show a bluetooth connection in the house when the car is sitting in the driveway. Today, when it beeped, though, the phone did not show a bluetooth connection.

is this an inside beep or an outside beep? or both?

if it thinks you're leaving the car with the smartkey in hand and the car still on, it'll give one long beep inside and three short beeps outside.

i don't recall offhand (don't do this often) but if you try to do something the car doesn't want you to do (park while still moving, etc) i think it gives you 3 beeps. i'll have to check on that.

don't have BT so i'm not sure about that, hopefully someone else can answer that for ya.

It is outside. My husband was inside the house and could here the beeps so they must be outside. I am out of the car at the time I hear the beeps so I do not know if there is one long beep inside.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago when we were out of town. The culprit turned out to be the charger of my daughter's portable DVD player which she left plugged into the console power outlet. After a few minutes of turning the car on and off, I unplugged the DVD player from the power outlet and the beeps stopped. I normally leave my cell phone charger plugged into the same outlet, but I never had such a problem when I left it connected while turning the car off.

That could be it because I do leave my phone charger plugged into the charger. However, after a quick run to the grocery store tonight, it did not beep at me after I parked and tourned off the car.

I bet you're not turning it off..I know, it seems unlikely, but that's the only thing that would beep 3 times, outside the car, after exiting with a smart key.

Evan,

I know I turned the car off.

I turned it on and off again at least five times and it kept on beeping when I tried to lock it after I verified that the car was off. Once I unplugged the DVD player, the car stopped beeping and locked when I pressed the black button on the door handle. Perhaps there is some circuit that keeps something on after you turn the car off when an electronic device is still plugged in even though all the indicators are that the car is off.

But I checked and it was off. Wouldn't my battery or mileage be effective if I left in on overnight?
