It looks as though they are taking a styling que from the Corolla and the Camry. I can't reed Janpanese but 40km/L works out to 94mpg! I like the lines but I don't like the wheels. Can anyone out there translate the text?

Front grill resembles the Yaris.

Rear looks like a mixture of Insight and the Pontiac Aztek:

I voted "OK." It is a logical progression from the current design.

I prefer the earlier pics I had seen of the possible '09 though.

And who made the rule that hybrids have to have fugly wheels on them?

The rear license plate is now on the bumper rather than the hatch door.

the pre-production photos of the '04 Prius showed some fantastic wheels...you can actually buy them at Sigmaautomotive.com...but they'll set you back something like $1600.

I'm quite certain that even if the drawings above are very close to what the '08/'09 Prius ultimately looks like that the wheels will be far different. Maybe not great, but better.

It does look a lot like the Yaris front end... I'm glad they seem to be keeping the same general lines because I like the pod shape of the car. Aerodynamics probably contribute somewhat to their decision on creating/keeping the shape.

That front grill is getting a little overdone though. I like the simplicity of the current model's front end because it's fairly distinctive from other cars/models. Maybe pushing the design a little more mainstream will attract more buyers though, and that can't be bad.

- lithium ion bat
- new 1.5l ice (1ZZ-FXE)
- new lighter electric motor with similar max toque 400Nm from zero rpm.
- improved milage while having smaller/lighter hybrid system (40km/l with power of a 2.4l)
- Plug-in? sorry not mentioned...
