Seriously, just brake normally. And in panic situations, jam on the brakes, you'll feel it go slack and pulsate but that's just the ABS working. DO NOT let go of the brakes if you feel this.

Same as any car with ABS? Just hit the brakes hard, look AROUND the object you're going to hit and steer around it if necessary.

Of course also check your rear view during and after you've stopped to make sure no one will rear end you. Take note of things beside you (via your wing mirrors) before you steer.

While that may seem like a lot of things to do in such a short time, if you've been keeping up with your awareness of your surroundings, then you should instinctively know if there's a car or not beside you.

Well actually he prius braking system if very complicated to use and you should probably take and return the car but have it towed for your own safety.

You see unlike normal cars that don’t require advanced education in physics and medicine to determine the actual stopping force needed the prius does. You must first place your foot on the brake pedal this will require that you attend medical school so that you know what the foot is and how the body uses it. Secondly you must apply pressure to the brake pad. This is were physics comes in you need to know how fast you are going were you are heading and your desired stopping point. You then get pen and paper and do the math to figure out how hard to push on the pedal. Remember this is all in reference to the positions of the sun and other planets in the solar system because the prius operates on sun and planetary gears. But that is another topic altogether.

Seriously though you simply step on the brake pedal. You can step on the gas pedal but if you push it all the way to the floor you will need to drive into the nearest gas station to stop then try and miss the clerk if you can.

To the OP: Proper procedure for any vehicle with ABS is to put your foot down as hard as you have to and keep it there. Pumping defeats ABS!

And remember, kids: The car won't slow down no matter how hard you stand on the accelerator. (Anybody else crash into a gas station under mysterious circumstances lately? )
