I just got a new 2007 Prius Touring edition this past weekend.

I traded in the sports car, for the gas saving car and I am already saving $120 off my insurance so thats great!

Im a bit confused about the car still, trying to drive steady to maximize the use of the electric engine vs the battery etc etc. Now that I understand the B on the shifter means engine brake rather than battery (like the dealer told me) It might actually run more on battery.

I do have a few questions tho.

I dont know what package I got, and I cant see anywhere where it says so. The toyota website isnt very helpful, and when looking at all the packages im confused. I have every option except the navigation system. I did get the sealant package and sound resistent crap only cause it was on it already.

And I have leather seats, and on the websites and looking at packages it says leather seating with leather wrapped stearing wheel... but my car doesnt have a leather wrapped wheel, or door panels. The door panels are a cloth. Anyone else who has leather have a leather wrapped wheel? or maybe I looked wrong.

Another thing Im kinda upset at is the rims on the touring are kinda not "rims" rather than a darker alloy with a cover on them. Anyone have a picture with the covers off? I looked but couldnt find anything.

Thanks in advance for the questions, and im excited about being a new prius owner

Ooh!

Your car looks exactly like mine.

Honk if you see me!

Congratulations on the purchase.

PM me, and let me know what dealer you got it from.

I am jealous.

Congrats on your new Prius. Hope you enjoy it and get to know it better each day.

What you have is a Touring model with Pkg 4 or less. The leather is not factory toyota leather, but rather something either dealer or port installed by a third party. They take the original fabric off and replaced it with an aftermarket leather kit. That's why you don't have the leather steering wheel, which comes with factory leather..
I can't imagine not knowing what option pkg you got. How did you know what price would be appropriate for the car, if you don't how it is equipped? The original window sticker will indicate the pkg #.

You probably had aftermarket leather installed by the dealer. Perhaps it's a Pkg 3 Touring? Definitely not the 9 that you put in your sig.

Bear in mind that all of the electricity that is in that battery came from the burning of gasoline. In most circumstances it is undesirable from a MPG standpoint to attempt to maximize the electric-only capabilities of the vehicle. There are inefficiencies inherent in the system that converted the gasoline (chemical energy) into electricity and then into chemical energy again and then back into electricity for the motor. Basically you should just let the car choose what's best and you will find huge fuel savings in staying close to the speed limits. I used to be a +10 to +15 guy myself, past tense. You also might want to read some of the driving techniques posted on this forum - pulse and glide is a good one when you can pull it off

My '07 Touring edition is a package 6. It came with leather seating surfaces and steering wheel from the factory and a fairly good faux-leather material on the center console and door arm rests. Many dealerships offer port installed leather which is different from the factory installed version. Some of the differences are no leather steering wheel and cloth door rests / center console. This might be what you have but it is difficult to see in your picture. It does appear that no Nav buttons are on your MFD which would suggest a package 4 or below.

My rims were custom from the dealership so I can't offer any wisdom on the factory ones.
Example

Hope some of that was of assistance

As I understand it, the B is for when you are going down a steep hill and don't want to hold to put the break on as much. The B turns on engine breaking which is usually off.

Engine breaking on a normal car or when the Prius is in the B mode, uses the engine to help slow the car down. The Prius in D acts like a normal car in Neutral when you let up off the gas.

Hope this makes sense.

Note that the car uses more gas when in the B mode as compared to just letting off the gas. So you only want to use it if you feel that you are needing to put the break on too much doing down a hill. Note that you are still responsible for making sure that you are going at a safe speed and you may/probably still need to use the break pedal to make sure you are going at a safe speed.
