Friends: 0 | I just took my '04 Prius in for the 75,000 mi. check and let them knoe the computer for the screen has been acting up. About 50% of the time it doesn't show info. Was told I need a new computer ! Yikes ! $4218 for the parts and $90 for labor. No extended warranty ![]() Has anyone else had trouble with this? I should be able to at least run the AC and radio from the steering wheel. Can I drive it without getting the new computer? Just put in a new compressor for the AC in May. This car is getting VERY expensive all of a sudden ! ![]() |

Friends: 0 | There were several threads about the display failing. I think they were replaced by Toyota, but this was on low mileage cars under warrantee. Try searching and see if you can find the threads. Try Prius Onlone, too, it might have been posted there, too. It is the display unit, not the computer, but it is still expensive. Maybe there is a used one off a wreck they can use? |

Friends: 3 | People here refer to the display as the MFD. I've seen a bunch of threads about getting refurb/remanufactured MFDs for a LOT less than $4K. |

Friends: 10 | That year Prius had a history of MFD failures. You can buy a refurbished MFD for much less than a new one. Tom |

Friends: 0 | Did they offer you a reconditioned DISPLAY UNIT? Do you have the part #, description and estimated cost? Thanks for any info -- a sister is having similar problems with her 2004 Prius |
