Poll: How many miles do you drive your Prius

I hit 10,000 miles the same week as my one-year anniversary.

Doh! I knew I forgot something. Generally I'm pretty open to the metric system (as I tell my minister father - if God wanted us to use the metric system, He would've given us ten fingers and ten toes).

I hope you were able to multiply your kilometers by 0.6 and help us out anyway

After 144 days of owning a Prius I'm at 13,832 miles. If the average miles per day continued, I'd have just over 35,000 after 1 year.

However, I drive an extra 3800 miles or so during May-Aug. that I don't drive the rest of the year, so I suspect I should have about 31200 per year.

Okay, trying to do the math here....
Got the car on May 11th, and have so far put 7800 miles on it..
That's 4 months, so:
7800
x 3 (cuz 3 x 4 = 12, in case you are wondering)

That isn't bad... I was thinking that I'd put over 30,000 on in a year. Of course, that may change, as my employment may be changing in the near future, and I could be doubling my commute, or losing it altogether, depending upon what happens.

100 a day 5 days a week. Plus an additional 1200 for a trip to Iowa and now 1600+ for a trip to PA. Currently at 13800 since April 9th.

unable to reply directly to your post for some reason. but you are using that 3800 miles in your daily calculation for your yearly projection

u need to subtract that then get a daily average for a yearly projection that would leave 69 milees a day or about 25,000 a year

Hm, you're right. That was a pretty silly mistake. Of course, once you compute the 25.4K from the typical daily average, you then have to add the 3800 back in to the total, so the predicted annual total is about 29,200. That's about 2000 less than I originally estimated (an error of about 6.8%?). It'll be interesting to see next April how close this estimate is.
