Hi. I have some water spots on the clear plastic speedometer cover. What's best to clean it?

I use an LCD cleaner to clean the MFD, but I don't want to use it on the clear plastic because I think it leaves a protective coating.

So what do you use to clean the speedo cover?

Thanks - Marvin

Distilled water and a soft cloth. DO NOT RUB. DO NOT USE EXCESS WATER. Wring all the water you can out of the cloth before you use it. If any drops fall down to the mirror, you will be unable to clean them up. The water will dissolve the water spots.

I find a "Swiffer" duster works well to remove dust on the dash components. No chance of scratching, quick cleanup, no chance of stains as with a liquid cleaner.

I use compressed air to clean the dust off the dashboard and air vents. Be careful of "cleaners" they can contain chemicals that can fog plastic. Good'ol damp cloth, finished off with a dry lint free cloth.

Are you sure it is the cover which is spotted and not the mirror which reflects the image?

Windex and old well-washed cotton rags work for me.

FYI - Not for cleaning, but fixing fogged or heavily scratched surfaces, the local dealership told me you can use a plastic polish (I believe a brand is PlastiX). They also mentioned that this is now used on the headlights if they have become fogged over time due to small scratches from car washes etc.
