NON-snow tires for Prius

This is my second winter's use of my X-Ice Snow tires, and I love them. My stock tires, that came on the car, are totally worn. I need to replace them, come Spring. What have you found to be the best Good Weather tire for the Prius?

Pay attention to the wear rating (UTQG). This number that usually ranges from 200 to 800. (e.g. Michelin Hydro Edges are 800 for example) I would recommend making sure the tire you get is at least 640 or better with ratings above 700 being worth every cent. I have significant experience with Goodyear and Michelin tires with various ratings and the life/behaviour of these high end tires and the wear rating is vastly more important than the manufacturer. The original Goodyear Integrity is very poor at 460 but the Goodyear ComforTred is a vastly different tire at 700.

Also look for tyre with silica compound in the tread, they tend not to sacrifice grip for tread life.

i have hydroedge for spring summer and fall, a great tire for water... and actually it has a pretty good rating for snow... but I have ice x which are exceptional on snow and ice.. there is a huge difference in handling performance...

Michelin Hydroedge

Those are probably the top 3 most recommended for the Prius, as far as I know. I'll be getting a set of one of the above in the next few months since my Integrities are reaching the end of their (safely) usable life at just over 30K miles.

For me, I consider good ol' Michelin X tires from Costco a great tire for good weather . . . which, comparatively, I have year round.

Now if I lived in Nome, Alaska or anywhere where it normally rains heavily, I may think twice

I like the Michelin Harmony on my car as an "all season" tire. For winter I run my aggressive snow tread Goodyear Nordic studded tires

big fan of the michelin energy mxv4+ but they don't make them in stock size anymore. i don't know what we'll get when these wear out, but after 12k miles it looks like we've got quite a while to decide.

Sorry for the vagueness of my comment. I'm in Indiana. So by good weather, I"m thinking no snow or ice.

So as I see it the OEM tires give the best mileage for the Prius. If you get another tire you'll take a mileage hit of at least 5 to 10 MPG. I don't know if I want to take such a hit. Until the manufactures get on board and give us a choice I'll probably stick with the OEM tires. That is unless someone can convince me that there is a better alternative out there.
I average around 47 mpg so if I take a 10mpg hit I'm in the high thirty's .
On occasion I get in the 50 mpg range but not for the type of driving I do. Just my 02 FishHawk
