Friends: 0 | Hey Everyone, I have owned my Prius for three weeks and have enjoyed the questions and answers on this forum. I have filled my gas tank three times. the first tank was 42.7 mpg, 2nd tank 49.9 mpg and the 3rd tank was 51.9 mpg. However, on to my question, does the car shutdown automatically if you leave it on after exiting? And if so, after what period of time? I have a habit of placing the car in park but not hitting the off button. Call it old age. |

No, the car does not shutdown automatically. Humorous answer: Yes, the car does shutdown automatically. The period of time will depend on how much fuel is in the tank, the ambient outdoor temperature, and the number of devices you have drawing power from the battery. In other words, the car will shutdown automatically as soon as it runs out of gas. | |
