Friends: 1 | Hi folks. In my quest to find some answers to my cargo carrier question (hint ... PLEASE help!) ....... http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-ma...o-carrier.html ...... I decided to post a few pix of my Prius with my bike rack and bike attached. The rack is a Hollywood rack, but this rack is sold under a variety of names and variations. I have a variety of bikes in a varitey of shapes; therefore, I need a rack that holds the bike by the wheels - not the top tube. This rack works well with the Prius, as it has a rise built into the shank. As you can see, I have the rack set-up for only 1 bike, but it easily carries 2. When I only have 1 bike on the rack, I put the bike on the inside of the rack to minimize downforce on the hitch. Using this method, I cannot open the hatch without removing the bike. I could easily put the bike on the outside part of the rack, and the hatch would open with the bike still on the rack. I'll probably do this after I get some miles on this set-up, and feel more confident. Again, if anyone can help me with this: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/47716-hitch-mounted-cargo-carrier.html I would be very greatful. ... Brad |

Friends: 18 | You're welcome. It just would be nice if there were other people joining this thread . . . I have the same interest as you in finding out which cargo carrier would work best. As I said before, I'd like to see one that folds up so it could be stored easily itself. I really like the railing that would allow more opportunity to tie down and give stability, but I wonder if the one that gives more vertical rise isn't more practical. I guess it all depends on how much weight you'll have in the car and on the rack. It doesn't take much to really drop the rear end of this car.
