Rattle Snake or Drum Roll

Hi People,

Looking for some assistance to see if I have a fault or not. I have a 2008 Spirit, 4 weeks old. Since delivery I have what sounds like a drum roll or rattle snake chatter from the left hand side of the engine. It seems to occur most when I brake or after braking as I pull away, is this 'standard' or do I have a fault, its like a relay chattering.

I have ignored it up to now as I assumed it was a normal noise as the car does emit some unusual noises compared to non prius vehicles.

Hope its 'standard' as I do not want to put it into a garage, when purchasing local dealer did not instill me with confidence, oil change, yes anything more, no.

Any info. would be appreacited.

P.S. Anyone recommend a dealer in Scotland ?

This is normal, the sound comes from the brake pressure accumulator pump. The Prius brake system has this pump in lieu of a normal car's power brake booster that depends upon gasoline engine vacuum.
