Friends: 0 |  Steering Wheel noise Have over 1300 miles now and don't know why I have not noticed this before but... today, when I turned the wheel while going into the garage, I heard a soft whirling sound - kind of a soft rubbing noise. Has anyone else experienced this? :?: 04 Salsa Red |

Friends: 0 | Ya, I hear it on mine too. Sounds almost like a couple pieces of rough fabric being rubbed together or something. Nothing to worry about - I credit the car with being so quiet that you hear noises that are just not audible in other vehicles  Dave. |

Friends: 0 | If it's the same sound I hear, it's the power steering mechanism, which -- I am told -- is electric rather than hydraulic.  |

Friends: 42 | Same sound as my MR2 - an electric power steering mechanism. Does it kinda sound like a rubberband being twisted?
